Spirit Priest

Priest The Burning Crusade

Intro

This build focuses on talents that convert Spirit into spell power, turning a normally weak stat into a powerful scaling mechanic for leveling and early dungeons. Early testing suggests it may even be viable in end‑game, but more testing is needed.

What makes this build work is the [15031] talent in the Holy tree, which makes Spell Power scale off Spirit. In TBC you also have [33182], which adds more Spirit scaling when you are under the effect of your own [25312] buff.

Explanation

This build focuses on talents that convert Spirit into spell power, turning a normally low‑value stat into a powerful scaling mechanic. While originally designed as a leveling setup, early level‑60 testing suggests it may also hold its own in end‑game content. The combination of high Spirit regeneration, efficient spell usage, and Spirit‑to‑SP conversion creates a surprisingly strong damage profile with almost no downtime. More testing is needed, but the build shows real potential beyond leveling.

The rotation is intentionally simple. Your core gameplay is spamming [585] while maintaining your key buffs: [17], [1243], [588], and [14752] once available. You can typically cast 2–3 [585] before refreshing [17]. Against bosses or high‑HP mobs, you can open with [14914] and apply [589] for extra pressure, but [585] remains the backbone of the build.

For gearing, there are several strong items you can pick up while leveling that complement the Spirit‑focused playstyle:

.:: Vanilla ::.

Weapons:
- [1607] (level 49)

Helm:
- [10751] (Sunken Temple quest reward)
- [10041] (level 45)

Chest armor:
- [10021] (level 40)

Gloves:
- [10019] (level 40)

Neck:
- [10829] (level 50)

.:: TBC ::.

Weapons:
- [30832] (level 70 pre-raid weapon which can be bought from Lower City once you reach Exalted)

Green items with the "of Spirit", "of Owl" or "of Whale" might also be useful while leveling.

This list is an initial draft and will likely expand over time to include recommendations for multiple level brackets, giving players clearer gearing paths as they progress.

Notes

Early end‑game testing at level 60 indicates that the Spirit scaling remains competitive, especially with gear that stacks both Spirit and Spell Power. This build may be viable for dungeons or early raids, but more testing is needed.

If you are choosing to go Tailoring you might want to specialize in Primal Mooncloth, as you will be able to craft the following items:
[21875]
[21873]
[21874]
[21876]

It should also be noted, that this build won't work in Wrath, as there will be significant changes to talents which breaks it from working. So it's recommended to gather gear that works without the spirit scaling in preparation for Wrath.
